Gráinne Hussey is an Associate in the Litigation and Restructuring practice in Conyers’ British Virgin Islands office.

Gráinne joined Conyers in November 2024. Before joining Conyers, Gráinne worked in the dispute resolution team of another offshore law firm in the BVI, having trained in Eversheds Sutherland in Dublin, Ireland.

Gráinne has a particular expertise in complex commercial litigation and insolvency matters with her practice spanning insolvency disputes, fraud asset recovery matters, as well as shareholder disputes. Gráinne regularly advises clients in relation to urgent interlocutory relief and enforcement in the BVI.

  • Acting for Defendants to an unlawful means conspiracy claim arising out of loan agreements and the financing of a skyscraper development in Taiwan.
  • Acting for defendants to BVI Arbitration in relation to a shareholders dispute conducted under the BVI International Arbitration Centre Arbitration Rules, 2021.
  • Acting for minority shareholder in relation to dispute under a s179 redemption of shares dispute.
  • Acting for defendants in a substantial unlawful means conspiracy fraud claim and, in an application to challenge service and jurisdiction in the Court of Appeal.
  • Acting for the majority shareholders in a dispute against a claim brought under unfair prejudice/oppression proceedings against the majority shareholders of the company, and advising them in relation interlocutory freezing and disclosure orders.
  • Acting for the Claimants beneficial owners in shareholder disputes of BVI companies and advising on applications on Norwich Pharmacal relief to pursue their claim.
  • Acting for a creditor in relation to a winding up application and the subsequent application for the enforcement of a foreign arbitration award in BVI.
  • Acting for joint provisional liquidators, and subsequently joint liquidators,  in relation to the liquidation of a BVI company with underlying cryptocurrency wallets and assets.
